4:34PM - Picture Prompt & I Need Your Help!

2. Respond to this picture in narrative form, i.e., the narrative you see in the image.

Your narrative needs not be much longer than flashfic but can be as long as you'd wish to make it by midnight tonight (Tuesday).

This is for the same school project (Media Studies) that I asked about a Kurland photo for in my previous entry at heatherbird, so if you could include as much personal information as you're comfortable with (name, age, location), that would be most helpful.

Thanks again!

Revise a fairy tale, using the villain's point of view. For example, the witch might have had good reasons for cooking Hansel and Gretel, or the big bad wolf for wanting to eat the three little pigs.

9:56PM - Edit

It's me again.

I volunteered to help with prompts for this community a few days ago, but since it seems rather dead and I found an existing source of fairly random prompts at dailychronicles, I'm not going to do so.

Just thought I'd explain.

12:21AM - October

October is approaching...

Anyone planning on getting this community up and running again?

I'm volunteering to help with daily prompts in October. I've both a reliable Internet connection and some free time this year, so if you all don't mind spontaneity and occasional silliness, I'd be glad to earn that citation in the userinfo.

9:45AM - Call for writers: NOLA Aid.

Call for writers, NOLA aid.

But heck, why stop at an anthology for Nola? I'm sure there are great Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama stories too? There's sooo much potential here.

12:44AM - good good idea

Hope no one minds this post, Mods, no hard feelings if you delete this...

So I was reading through my flist and came upon an entry from my friend chronarchy.

I copied and pasted the idea below, I think its a wonderful idea and I think alot of you would be up for it, pass the idea around please and lets see if we can get everyone on LJ to 'tumble down the rabbit hole'</i>... w0ot!

January 27th is the birthday of Lewis Carrol, author of ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND. Alice fell down a rabbit hole into a place where everything had changed and none of the rules could be counted on to apply anymore. I say, let's do the same: January 27th, 2005 should be the First Annual LiveJournal Rabbit Hole Day. When you post on that Thursday, instead of the normal daily life and work and news and politics, write about the strange new world you have found yourself in for the day, with its strange new life and work and news and politics. Are your pets talking back at you now? Has your child suddenly grown to full adulthood? Does everyone at work think you're someone else now? Did Bush step down from the White House to become a pro-circuit tap-dancer? Did Zoroastrian missionaries show up on your doorstep with literature in 3-D? Have you been placed under house arrest by bizarre insectoid women wielding clubs made of lunchmeat?

Let's have a day where nobody's life makes sense anymore, where any random LJ you click on will bring you some strange new tale. Let's all fall down the Rabbit Hole for 24 hours and see what's there. It will be beautiful.

I'm going to x-post in a few places so if you get this more than once, I apologize :D

12:47PM - It's time for the Daily Chronicles

It's time!
Remember, back before most of us went out and wrote a 50,000 word novel in 30 days? Remember? Remember when we thought it might be fun to write some quick fiction stories as an Exercise of the Day? How some of us actually went so far as to join the eotd group and post our fiction there, or in nanowrimo?

It’s time for that kind of crazy creativity to start bubbling again.

I invite you to come and check out dailychronicles and get writing.

The challenge of this community is to write a story in less than 10 minutes using the Word or Phrase of the Day, which will be found (more or less) at random somewhere in the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle. The Word or Phrase should be included in each story either directly or as a theme. All styles of fiction are welcome.
Post the works to this community, as well as your own LJ sites if you so wish. For longer pieces, please utilize an "LJ-Cut" function to hide the bulk of the material.
The challenge "officially" begins today January 1, 2005.

(Please note that the SF Chronicle is neither endorsed by, or itself endorses, the "Daily Chronicles" challenge, but is simply used for random source material.)

And while the challenge will "officially" start with the New Year, it’s time to test the idea and see what happens. Over the next several weeks there will be random challenges posted. Come on by and tackle today’s if possible.
Feel free to tell your friends and link to the page.

Good luck everyone!

2:59PM - And the music played...

Jack stood on the elevator, mildly annoyed at the tinny music playing in the background. He was leaning against the railing, trying to pass the time. The elevator had stopped five minutes ago, with a large, rocking, "thump".

As he sighed in exasperation, he could feel the sweat dripping down his forehead. Jack had always been leery of enclosed spaces, ever since his older brother had once locked him in the closet overnight. "Oh well," he thought, "better make the best of it."

Jack slumped forward to loosen his tie and remove his coat when he noticed a bright red stain spreading on his previously pristine white shirt. Looking up at the ceiling of the car, he realized with horror that the sweat which had been dripping down his brow was in fact blood...blood dripping from above the car. Jack fell to his knees, screaming...and the music played...
